Knit this FREE cable stitch plant cozy for your house plant. I love knitting these cozies, they’re so much easier than baskets, because they don’t have a bottom on them! Making it a great stash buster knitting pattern too. :) Happy knitting!

Notes:
Not reversible.
Knit bottom up.
Knit using the lattice knit stitch.
Knit holding 2 strands of yarn together throughout.
Knit in the round with a circular needle.
When knitting in the round you’re always knitting the right side of your work.
I chose to BO in the K1, P1 pattern because when I BO in all knit STS the STS lay over so I see it from the front and when I BO in the K1, P1 pattern the BO STS are on top of the pattern, however the K1, P1 pattern makes a stretchy edge and it flares out, so I left a long tail and wove it through the BO STS and cinched it tight when I put it on the container. I’m very happy with the end result, so if I made another I’d make it the same way.
This is naturally a tight stitch, so try not to knit tightly. If you naturally knit tightly you might want to use a larger needle.
I tried slipping stitches forward and backwards on the cable Rounds to get them to overlap, so you couldn't see where the round changes, but I kept getting the same result, an elongated cable, so the above pattern is the best I could create to minimize the “seam” when you change Rounds.
This stitch was a bit hard on my hands. I only knit 1 set per day until it was finished. I really like the end result, so this one is a labor of love for me not my favorite stitch to knit, but I love the end result!
This is an unforgiving stitch. When you make a mistake, it’s noticeable and the only way to fix it is to tink back or frog. :( Don’t despair! It’s sooo pretty when it’s finished! It’s worth it! :)
